Guess who’s back???
It’s that time again! It’s the road to 2016 world martial arts game, and I am super excited to once again represent US Martial Arts Team in competition. The venue this year has changed. Originally, we were to compete in Jakarta, but now we are going to be competing in Johannesburg, South Africa at the Ticket Pro Dome! This is exciting news! As I train to get ready to win gold this year, I will need your help. Each member has a goal to raise $3000 to cover our expenses(travel, equipment, lodging, tournament fees, etc), so I am requesting donations to help me prepare for this trip. Any amount will help, and I will do all I can to make sure your donation does not go to waste. There will be a link below to my personal paypal account where you can donate throughout the year without any time limits. Additionally, I will be setting up a Gofundme and booster accounts to raise additional funds as the time gets a bit closer. A youtube page is in the works to help document my training, and hope to connect with my supporters. The last world games was an amazing experience, one that would not be possibe without your help.. All I ask for one more shot at gold. With your help, I can make that happen.
Thank you,
Desmond Diaz, LMT

Greetings All,
It is an amazing day in the world of the USMA Team and all martial arts. As I'm sure you know by now, the International Olympic Committee has given their patronage and support to the upcoming World Games in Canada. This is a first for martial arts! Never has the IOC given their support to any martial arts event, let alone one that is open to all styles. Today will likely change the face of martial arts competition as we know it and you are all a part of that. Thank you for your support and belief in what we are doing.
Now, in answer to all the questions you have, allow me to elaborate and clarify what this means for us.
I hope this helps everyone. This is a huge step forward. Karly and I are very excited about this and everyone involved in the Games are thrilled. Again, no martial arts event has ever achieved this. Not any organization or competition. This is a first and we are part of it. We will go, we will see, we will conquer, and we will prove, once again, that the US Martial Arts Team is THE team to beat!

- You are members of the US Team, which is a member of TAFISA, which is a member of the IOC. Think of it like being part of the US Government. The US Is part of the United Nations, but each individual Congressman is not. The Governor of Illinois cannot show up on the UN steps and demand entrance as a representative of the US (thank God). In this way, you are part of the IOC, but only as a member of a member organization.
- We have IOC Patronage for the Games. This will allow the Games to be larger, more professional, more expansive, and get MUCH more media exposure which, in turn, helps our fundraising efforts.
- Their Sponsorship of the Games is allowing us to use The Olympic Venue for our event. This means we will be surrounded by all the trappings of the Olympic Games while everyone competes.
- The IOC will have representatives at the Games to gauge their success. This has put tremendous pressure on the Canadian organizers to create an unforgettable event that will show the IOC we deserve to be a permanent part of their events and, eventually, the Olympics.
- The medals for the Games have been designed by an Olympic artist (the same one who designed the Canadian Winter Olympic medals a few years ago).
- We cannot use the Rings on our uniforms or warm ups, but we can use the TAFISA logo and name (and we will).
- I know many of you are unsure what TAFISA is. Understand, it is THE Largest sport organization in the world today. It's member groups include the AAU, the Presidential Fitness Program, ALL the Olympic sports, and it promotes sport worldwide in more than 150 countries.
